Travel Advisory for Portugal + beyond
Comara is a boutique travel advisory led by Ginny Armstrong, an independent advisor with Fora Travel.
I plan travel for individuals and couples, and source venues for retreats and small groups. I am a queer woman, and have traveled as such, so I understand the particular nuances and needs of our community.
I have traveled, and lived, all over the world. My father owned a travel agency. Nothing is too small or complex.

WHO AM I
I'm Ginny Armstrong. I spent the past year building a small-group travel company: scouting properties across Lisbon, the Alentejo and the Atlantic coast, sitting with owners, choosing partners on the ground, and designing itineraries from the first morning to the last.
Comara is named for my grandmother Dorothy, who traveled, and shaped by my other grandmother, whose table always had room for one more. That part hasn't changed.
What has changed is who the trip is for. Rather than running fixed departures, I now do that work for you.
WHAT I DO
Trip planning. For individuals and couples. Hotels, routing, restaurants, the things worth doing and the things worth skipping. You get an itinerary built around how you actually travel.
Retreats and small groups. Venue sourcing, room blocks, rooming lists, transfers and ground logistics. If you run a retreat or a group program, I find the place and handle the contracting so you can run the program.
I know Portugal especially well: Lisbon, the Alentejo and the Costa Vicentina. I've scouted them, and I've built relationships with the people who run the places I recommend.
I love planning and researching travel to find the perfect, off-the-beaten path restaurant, lodging or location so please keep me in mind for those types of trips - anywhere in the world.
WHAT IT COSTS
Usually nothing. Hotels and suppliers pay commission, so you book at the same rate you'd pay direct, often with upgrades, breakfast, or a property credit you wouldn't have got on your own.
For complex multi-stop itineraries I charge a planning fee, quoted before we start. Group sourcing is quoted per project. No surprises either way.
WHY I BUILT COMARA
As a queer woman, I run the same quiet calculations before every trip — is it safe, can I be myself, how much of myself do I leave at home.
I built Comara to relieve myself, and others, of that feeling.
