Are Comara group trips really for queer women?
Yes. Comara is built for women who self-identify as queer.
I'm trans / nonbinary. Is this for me?
Yes. If you identify as a queer woman, or move through the world in community with us, you belong at this table.
Can I come solo?
Absolutely. Please do. Most will. You'll arrive only knowing people via Zoom, but you'll leave with a group thread that doesn't go quiet. The small size is exactly what makes that happen.
Can I bring my wife, partner or a friend?
Absolutely. On group trips, you're welcome to bring anyone who identifies as a queer woman or moves through the world with us. If you want a fully private trip for you and your people, I can design a custom trip for you.
Is there an age range?
No cap, no minimum beyond adult. I want the trips to draw women across a wide span of ages and life stages, since that's where the magic lies.

The Trips
What does founding-cohort pricing mean?
Comara's first season is offered at a founding rate — a thank-you to the women who trust a new company with their time before there are dozens of reviews to reassure them. The price reflects that trust. As the journeys find their footing it will rise, and the founding cohort will always have travelled at a number that won't return.
Are private room included?
Yes — your own room is the standard, not an upgrade you reach for or pay to protect. The only time you'll share is if you choose to, with someone you're traveling with, at the companion rate.
How many people travel, and what if the trip doesn't fill?
The Awakening travels as an intimate group — twelve women at most. Like any small-group journey, it confirms once a minimum group of nine has come together, and I'll confirm your place and the departure by March 1, 2027. In the rare event we don't reach that minimum, you'll be offered a full refund of anything you've paid, or a place on another Comara journey. You'll never be left holding a trip that isn't happening.
How do you work to build a community before we even go?
Community is central to Comara. It's the entire ethos. At the beginning of every trip, I want everyone to say "It's so nice to meet you in person," instead of "It's so nice to meet you." It seems like a subtle difference, but it's not. Once you book, I look forward to sharing how I'll make this happen.
What's the food situation? I have dietary needs. Food is central to every trip. Tell me your needs and restrictions when you book and I build them in — no one at the table will go hungry.
Can I come early or stay on? Yes, absolutely. In Portugal, you're welcome to come a night or two in Lisbon before we gather, or on the coast or the Alto Alentejo after we part — arranged individually around availability. Mention it when you join the waitlist and I'll quote it for you.
The Company
What is Comara?
Comara is a small-group slow-travel company for queer women, founded and led by Ginny Armstrong. The inaugural season travels to Portugal in 2027: The Awakening, through Lisbon and the Atlantic coast, and The Harvest, in the olive groves of the Alto Alentejo. Trips are capped at twelve, private rooms are standard, and I travel with you.
What makes Comara different from other queer women's travel companies?
Three things. The trips are small — fourteen women at most, never a coach and a microphone. They are slow, staying in one place long enough to unpack once and be recognized at the café by the second morning. And they are founder-led: I plan every journey and I travel on every one of them, which means the person who answers your email is the person who saves you a seat at dinner.
Where does Comara travel?
The 2027 season is in Portugal. The Awakening runs May 28 to June 4, 2027, in Lisbon and along the Atlantic coast. The Harvest arrives in October 2027 for the olive harvest in the Alto Alentejo. There is a roadmap beyond Portugal, and I would rather hear where you want to go than guess.
